Thoughts on Love

“Find a guy who calls you beautiful instead of hot, who calls you back when you hang up on him, who will lie under the stars and listen to your heartbeat, or will stay awake just to watch you sleep… wait for the boy who kisses your forehead, who wants to show you off to the world when you are in sweats, who holds your hand in front of his friends, who thinks you’re just as pretty without makeup on. One who is constantly reminding you of how much he cares and how lucky his is to have you…. The one who turns to his friends and says, ‘that’s her.’”

Not necessarily just girls but for anyone that found someone special.

If you do, remember this quote regardless and be true.

Love is love.

My Interesting Conversation

Candy Boerwinkle We’re protesting mothers day this year. Love doesn’t need a national holiday, people!

I like having an excuse to do something nice for my mom. She has done SO MANY incredible things for me over the years, and never wants or expects a darn thing in return. Nor does she *let* me do nice things w/o trying to reimburse me! So, if I give her a gift on a holiday, she has to graciously accept it dammit!!!

How is it fun to have the greeting card company revenue backed by the national government to tell us what specific day we should be grateful? Stop walking in lines. Why not love everyday and show it all the time?

I think that Katie hit the nail on the head, Candy. It is shameful if people don’t try to be grateful for their mother daily; however, sometimes mother’s don’t like being doted upon all the time. It is almost a day for everyone but mothers, because mothers kinda have to let us do what we want for them, to make us feel like they truly know they are appreciated.

So, what are your thoughts on Steak and BJ day?

You make too big a deal out of everything. I love my mother dearly and I show her every day, but, I’m sorry, I like having a day that is just for her. She deserves it. My mom and I are going to get tattoos together tomorrow. You don’t appreciate anything. I’m sorry, but you look for reasons to get portest. You don’t look cool, you don’t sound cool. you just look pissy. I personally take any chance to spoil my mom i get and i’m glad the government gives me a reason to.

I do see the overall point that Candy is making – be grateful and love your mom (and others) ALWAYS, without regard to the label given to the day.

At least, that’s what it seems to be. I may be misunderstanding.

Yes Phillip, I think that is her point: that & not supporting the Greeting Card Company! One of my other friends posted that she had to pay $7 for a Mother’s Day card!!! (I guess she went to the Hallmark stroe itself, which is silly when they are 2 for $1 at Family Dollar.) Anyway, Feb 15th … hehe. I’m up for it & glad that it is the day *after… See More* V-day rather than the day before (so I can decide how much effort I want to put into it!) But that brings us to V-Day itself tho … which I always refer to as a 25 dollar holiday. I hate the commercials that show women getting super expensive jewelry. Save that crap for birthdays & anniversaries, if at all. I like to recognize holidays w/ something simple. And I ALWAYS skip the card. I just think it is pointless because my family is not a bunch of pack rats. They all just get tossed into the recycle bin anyway … If I were in a relationship, my guy would get spoiled on his Bday & our Anniversary.
But back to Mother’s Day … you could always celebrate it any way you choose. Like putting the kids in charge of packing a picnic lunch & going to the park together. It might be interesting to see what they would bring!

Lori, you have said spiteful things before that i let by but really why does it make you so upset that i voice my opinions about things? You don’t have to agree with them, but you don’t have to throw out adjectives at me either. Go ahead and be a sheep but don’t put me down for breaking away from the herd!! Geez.

As for mothers day and any day, … See Morethey just make people look ridiculous. Does anyone think or do for themselves anymore? My girls give me handmade cards every other day! I’m at the store right now and it’s sickening the swarm on the greeting card aisle and the dead cut flowers arranged on vases everywhere.

All I’m saying is maybe people should find motivation apart from govt/corporate initiation!

You’re sort of right Candy. I don’t consider the things I’ve said spiteful, I consider them realistic. You live in this little dream world where you for some reason feel like constantly protesting the system. Anything that has even the faintest whiff of corporate involvement and you are completely against it. This country is about money and power. … See MoreThat is capitalism. If you don’t like move to another fucking country. I don’t appreciate those people who don’t appreciate the American way of life. Yes, I know, saps will say the American way of life is all about diversity, but the funny part, is that if people like you got what you wanted, our economy would crumble and our country right behind. Have you seen the recession all around you? If you understood economics, you would understand that things like Mother’s Day, and the buying frenzy that accompanies it, are what put an economy into recovery after a recession. So, if we protest all the things that you say should be protested, then our economy would truly crumble underneath our feet. You think all these things you state are small, relatively inconsequential things, but they all add up into much more in the big picture. I just don’t like listening to people who dont think about the system in its entirety. They (you) only see the portion directly in front of your face (mother’s day) rather than the big picture (more money spent on luxury items leads to economic recovery and stability)

I know that protesting small things leads to bigger things. Thats the point! Why else do it? The problem is greed and yes, this country is saturated in it. Everyone is so damn waist deep in debt and money that they don’t do much else. Let the big money driven corporations drown! Would it be the end of the world if love ruled the day rather than the… See More American dollar? Money is a faceless, passionless, heartless machine that turns people into soul sucking and lifeless robots. let go of this American dream of money and lets remember what mothers day is truly about, not have to be reminded of it one day a year, but live it every day. I don’t care about making someone else rich so that the price of bread isn’t ten dollars. I’d rather make my own bread and spend my life in laughter and love instead of chasing dollar bills.

Thats just who I am. Sorry if that makes you mad. My heroes are Ghandi, John Lennon, and Martin Luther King.

The down side of letting the big money driven corporations drown is that unemployment rates would go up. What about all the assembly line workers and all the middle class working for the big corporations. Love wont pay the rent , but a job will. ~ Mothers day is a simple holiday that give us a little something extra to look forward to. I had the best mothers day with home-made cards and gifts from my daughters, and time with my grandma and mom.
Tuesday at 7:37am
Candy Boerwinkle

Candy Boerwinkle

The thing I think people have forgotten most is themselves. Who thinks assembly line work is any kind of great way to live? Why make barely enough to survive in a huge factory or office building every day to make someone else rich, then go home at the end of the day exhausted, unhappy and unable to give much else to your kids?

No one utilizes … See Moretheir own talents anymore. Small businesses are crushed under the weight of greedy giants and then we’re all offered some measly paying job while ceo’s live on yachts. We’re threatened with this whole economy crashing thing as if we would all die!! Most Americans live under an illusion of money, attached to it like a baby to breast milk.

I’m glad you had a great mothers day, ang. The thing is you didn’t need a national holiday to have that special day.

No sweetie, I have no illusions. I don’t want to make my own bread, I don’t want to live in a shack with no electricity or on a commune with no electricity. I like having nice highway systems to drive on that our government uses our taxes to provide. I like knowing that someone cant just walk up and rape me in public without the government … See Moreintervening and punishing them. I love all the things our government and capitalist society provides and I know for sure that you have not thought through all the realistic consequences of bring down big business and government intervention.

You justify being ruled because you think it protects you but then complain when big business gets corrupt. Who do you think paid for that multi gazillion dollar bail out for … See Morethose fuckers a few years back? Hard working Americans just thankful for a measly goddamn assembly line job and then everyone got laid off so those millionaires could keep their bonuses!! Wake up! You’re owned by the company that gives you a paycheck. What a life.

That’s what I’m saying. The biggest chunk of our nation likes thing the way they are. We don’t want it to change. It seems you feel as though you would force all of us to live a life we dont want just so you could get your little activist way. Hell, I’m in school for pre-law. I, and many othrs like me, choose to embrace the system and make our … See Moresmall changes from within. You can’t just tear down a system the majority is happy with. That defeats the point of democracy, you have a voice but your voice is small compared to the majority. Obviously, since people like you have been trying to generate awareness for your melodramatic causes for years, you should get the point that no one cares. The majority of this country wallows in capitalism and we love it.

In what world is this a democracy? The people of this country don’t have a say in anything passed. We don’t elect presidents, politicians do, and the rich elect politicians. More than half of America was Against that bail out but it still passed. And if capitalism was so great and working so nicely, then why did a socialist health care bill just … See Moreget passed?!

Martin Luther King was apart of a great movement and the Majority of ppl were against him and more than happy with segregation. Thank god for people that believe in change.

I look around and all i see is greed. Or, better stated, capitalism. All i’m saying is i believe in humanity and our ability to love and appreciate mothers every day. I never forced anything on anyone. It’s scary to me that you’re studying law and are so dead set against a persons right of expression and opinions.

Who is this Lori James person, and why is she your “friend”? Ugh… I’m sorry, but you seem like a real bitch, with all due respect. I think we are a short-term memory society. If I recall correctly, it was actually the OUT OF CONTROL spending that sent this “capitalist” country down the recession spiral. Buy, Buy, charge, charge, DEBT, DEBT… See More!! I distinctly remember war monger… oops, I mean Bush… telling the country just days after 9/11 to go out and spend money. (That’ll show ’em darn terrorist varmints, won’t it?)

And Candy, all Americans (including Lori and Angela) should be grateful for activist-minded people like yourself. If it weren’t for the little voices like ours that come together in harmony from time to time, any progress our country has made in the past will mean nothing. I’m not black, but I thank God for MLK. Iam sorry but to call out something like Mothers Day, a celebration of your mother is wrong. Mothers Day is proper, it generates tax dollars. To basically say that every holiday is a conspiracy capitalist social party is far fetched. Iam a REALIST and I know that NONE OF US HAVE THE ABILITY OR POWER TO CHANGE THE AMERICANS WAY OF DOING BUSINESS… … See MoreIf everyone supported your idea that everything we celebrate is wrong and lived in your world we would be slaves to communist China right now! Just like Jennifers thoughts on the Health Care bill- Q uestion to you:Would you go up to a total stranger and ask them to pay your Doctors bills? Then why take MY money to pay YOUR bills???? Also yeah I do I care more about my mom and MOthers Day rather than Martin LUther KIng day SO WHAT! Well, Jennifer, first I must say, you are exceptionally eloquent and that you don’t know me but, yeah you probably would think I suck., but that’s cool sweetie. And as far as all these conversations go, I give up. Candy, I believe you are the selfish one in all this. If all this socialist and communist junk is really what you believe in then why … See Moredon’t you move to one of the countries that already has that type of society. Don’t try to change the one that so many people are happy with. We have socialist countries like Sweden, communist countries like China. You could even just go find a commune and live there. But, no, you choose to stay in a country that, even though it’s built on principles you disagree with, the biggest majority of people who choose to live in it are happy with it. So I would say that your attempt to force change where it isn’t wanted is the selfish and greedy choice.

Why, thank you, Lori. I will accept your complement, even though you are correct in assuming that I think you suck. The rational that a person should just move to a foreign country if they don’t like it here is incredibly ignorant. In fact, I think that is EXACTLY what our country was built on–we didn’t like something. People spoke up. Then … See Morethere was a movement, and then…. the Revolutionary War (you may have read about it). And then, a bunch smart folks got together, and decided that the citizens should always be able to make changes when deemed necessary. Those are called amendments. And just because a group yells the loudest, doesn’t mean they are right, nor does it mean they are the majority. It just means their throats will be more sore tomorrow.
